Sallie is one of the most compassionate and warm people I have ever met and made me feel comfortable and at ease from the very first session.
I first started seeing Sallie just under 2 years ago due to struggling with anxiety and generally feeling down in the dumps. I have experienced face to face sessions and more recently sessions via zoom, and must say I have found the zoom sessions just as effective as the face to face.
The sessions are extremely informative and easy to understand due to Sallie’s extensive knowledge of the way the brain works, making everything very easy to understand.
When I first saw Sallie I was afraid to do small things such as answer the phone or collect food through a drive thru. Having now finished treatment with Sallie, I visit the drive thru a little too often but have also recently appeared on a television show, which without Sallie’s constant support, I can safely say would not have ever even considered doing that. I will always be grateful to Sallie for helping me to appreciate and love the small things in life and helping me to truly live a more happy life. James

I have suffered from IBS for several years, and I have always known that it was my anxious brain that was a big part of my problem. Well, I knew that in theory, but hadn’t got to grips with it properly.
I was able to participate in the sessions from my bedroom, which made them extra comfortable and allowed me to doze on at the end of the hypnosis. After that, I spent the rest of the day in a dream!
I still experience IBS symptoms, but they are gradually getting better. In large part this is because she has helped me reduce my anxiety. Even better than the hypnosis was the talking therapy that preceded it. This helped me understand my feelings better, to value what is important in my life, to focus on the relationships that matter to me, and to create boundaries and space to do things that give me joy rather than just meeting a string of obligations. I initially sought Sallie’s support after a glowing recommendation from a friend. She advised me the few ongoing issues I had may be worked through with the help of Sallie. I was sceptical. Thought I was okay and that these issues were just things that took time to deal with, however I persevered.
I was living in temporary accomodation due to shielding from my family and believed I was okay at the start. Sallie’s first session with me was an eye opener and things I didn’t think were bothering me, when talking them through I realised were more detrimental then I thought. We began working through these on a weekly basis and things mentally began to improve, but unfortunately pressures I was facing at work as a nurse, began to take over. At this time I was more grateful then ever to have Sallie by my side. Just a text, call or zoom session away.
She was always approachable and made me understand why certain behaviours were changing. How it was part of the coping process. I always felt I could be completely honest with Sallie, even when I couldn’t with myself. Sallie has been a lifeline! Both helping me process long term problems and coping with these unprecedented times. She aided my acceptance when I felt like a total failure, to appreciate that nobody is superhuman. Together we overcame so many things and although I was signed off from work for a month, our weekly sessions made me return stronger then ever.
I’m now doing things that used to terrify me. My anxiety is well controlled and I have coping mechanisms I am needing less and less as time goes on. Sallie has helped me retrain the thought patterns that often lead to spiralling and frequent moments of complete isolation from everyone. Although my anxiety and depression will never be ‘cured’, I can now manage the triggers far better. To quote a close friend “the old Sarah (from 6 years ago) is back and stronger then ever before”. I found Sallie after searching for a hypnotherapist who treated children in Exeter. As soon as I spoke to her on the telephone about his difficulties, I knew she was the person for us. My son had severe OCD which was preventing him from engaging in most of his life. He had been seen by CAMHS but no one seemed able to make a dent in the defence wall that the OCD had built around him. He was extremely anxious and wasn’t managing to concentrate on school. My son also has autism and he finds it difficult to trust and bond to new people. However almost instantly he relaxed with Sallie and started opening up to her. Sallie was extremely patient and empathetic with him and showed genuine interest in everything he said. He quickly began to trust her and really listen to what she told him. I was sceptical about how hypnotherapy would help him when nothing else had but he wanted to try it so I let him take the lead with it. After a few sessions he started to visibly relax at home and he really looked forward to his weekly sessions with Sallie. After a couple of months there was undoubtedly an improvement in his overall mental health and we were able to start challenging some of the smaller OCD behaviours. He started being interested in his previous hobbies and he began to challenge his OCD on his own and we started to see our son again whom OCD had robbed us of. Now, he is a happy, stable, focused and studious young man with the world at his feet. His OCD no longer stops him from doing anything. I honestly believe that Sallie unlocked his wall and helped him to knock it down. We will forever be grateful for Sallie’s help and support during what was an extremely difficult period for our whole family. If he ever starts to show any signs of difficulties again she will be the first person we will get in contact with to ask for help. Sallie has helped me to see things with a more optimistic positive outlook! She has helped me to understand the way we go down the same negative paths in our brain so often that these paths become habits. I was recommended to see Sallie by my sister. The seed was planted. I had anxieties prior to a job interview I had wanted for a few years. I was experienced enough but did not think I was capable. I rang Sallie and easily booked a session! I would look forward to the Trance part of the session. During trance I would find peace and calm and be receptive to positive thoughts and encouragements. I soon began believing I could and I got the job!
Another important milestone I wanted to achieve was buying my own first home. It felt the right time but I felt overwhelmed and lacked energy. I started viewing things a little differently; in a more manageable way. Needless to say, within those weeks I found ‘my’ house, started the process and I moved in to my perfect first home a month ago!
During those weeks before moving into my new home, COVID 19 happened. I am a nurse on a busy ITU. Sallie suggested we continue to do our therapy via Zoom from the hotel room I was staying in for 11 weeks, shielding from family and friends, during the crisis. At first I was not sure how it would work. It was fantastic and easy to do. I had some wonderful sessions, I grew in confidence and was balancing my new role at work during the crisis and life in the hotel. I also began to view other people differently and could reflect on myself and others around me in a more productive compassionate way.
Along with ZOOM Sallie has a Facebook page called ‘My Calm Mind- relaxation with Sallie Horner from Libra hypnotherapies’ this was wonderful during ‘Lockdown’ to emphasise what we discussed in sessions and a chance to relax and find balance.

When I first contacted you I was in a total state. Panic attack’s, ibs, insecurity, low self esteem, unable to go out, if at all, do the weekly shopping, eating out, I was becoming a hermit and what was Sleep !!!!!
I had to do something and pretty darn fast, as my problem was taking over my life.
I saw an advert in the paper and was so embarrassed about my situation I couldn’t even telephone, so I emailed and panicked as I did !!!!! I had an email back the same day and shouldn’t have worried. I made an appointment- but could I get there? Between my panic attacks, ibs,insecurity.

I have seen Sallie several times and each experience has been to the highest effect and I gradually felt myself getting better, to now I can with confidence, go shopping, go out for meals with family and friends, all what for 2 plus years I haven’t been able to.
IBS is no longer a problem- so NO medication. I do get a few hiccups but I’m able to control these and enjoy life once again

I have had IBS for which I receive dietary advice from a registered dietician. It was suggested that I try some hypnotherapy. Sallie has helped me to build my confidence to socialise with friends without letting the anxiety of IBS spoil the occasion. She has helped me pinpoint certain areas of stress in my life without looking into the past but giving me the ability to recognise these for myself so I can live the life I choose.
In the hypnotherapy sessions Sallie provides a relaxed atmosphere during which she induces a trance like state when our brain when our brain can be influences by metaphoric suggestion. Sallie is a very capable and professional hypnotherapist and I can’t recommend the service she provides enough. I chose to try hypnotherapy as an alternative to grief counselling after losing someone very close to me. I visited Sallie recently to see if there was any way that she could help me to reduce the amount of food I consume in order to reduce weight and enhance fitness. She taught me a lot about how the brain works and other things which were likely to make me reduce my appetite.She explained that there were things called neural pathways which establish routes through the brain by which things (such as appetite) could be affected or controlled. She gave me hypnotherapy a number of times as well as suggested adjustments to attitudes in life and i noticed the results of our planning worked most effectively in that I was I was quite easily able to decline the offer of second helpings and move to smaller portions. My attitude to the whole aspect of diet altered, and she explained how the good feeling I was experiencing in so doing was significant and could be applied to other things in life. I can recommend Sallie in the way in which she goes about explaining not only how the method works but also by describing the functions that underlie these principles so that it all makes sense; and in my case adjusting certain elements of lifestyle. I went to Sallie as I had suffered with anxiety for a number of years. This anxiety had manifested itself into a fear of pregnancy and giving birth, so once I found out I was pregnant, I knew I needed to do something about it. Sallie is friendly, personable and has a very calming nature. She makes it very easy to talk to her about your anxieties and explains thoroughly how the brain works and why we end up feeling the way we do and the ways in which we can ‘re-programme’ our brains. After just a few sessions with Sallie, I already felt a lot more at ease and quickly learned techniques to help me relax and let go of my fears. I decided to try hypnotherapy to help me to prepare mentally for having IVF treatment, after struggling for three years to conceive naturally after the birth of my little girl, who was born stillborn. I started to see Sallie because I was experiencing severe neck pain due to dystonia which was making it very difficult to sleep. I was getting very tired and everything seemed to get on top of me. After the first session I was able to go straight to sleep and more importantly back to sleep if I woke up. We then explored ways to try and reduce my stress and anxiety which was making my condition worse. I am now much more calm and positive, so much so that friends have commented on it. Hypnotherapy wasn’t something I’d ever considered before, but after a chance conversation with Sallie I thought I’d give it a go. Although I’ve never liked flying, I’d recently returned from a holiday having been so scared on the plane that I vowed I would never go anywhere again if it involved flying. Sallie explained how hypnotherapy could help me with my phobia, and the thought that I might be able to explore the world feeling as happy and relaxed as the other passengers on the flight appeared really appealed! Sallie made me feel calm and relaxed throughout the sessions and really helped me to re-think the way I looked at things. Although I have not yet attempted to get back on a plane, I do feel that Sallie has armed me with the tools I need to give it a go. Sallie has a natural empathy towards others. She understands that low morale and negative behavioural patterns can create a cycle of destructive ideas. Her consistency and concise exercising with the hypnotherapy techniques that she uses can over-power these negative thought processes. After thirteen weeks I changed how I had been thinking for a long time. It started quite gradually at first then once I got the hang of it, things really started to change. I found myself digging deeply into my mind to search out and emphasize so many positive experiences, images and thoughts that are so easy to overlook.
